Large 1823 Bible w/ I. Rindge Family Mass. Gen. Records Item number: 250154563459

A very good early family Bible with period genealogical data from the family of Isaac Rindge of Templeton, Massachusetts. 2 3/4" by 9" by 11 1/4", in leather bound hard covers, a 1,340 page 1823 dated Holy Bible with Old and New Testaments, Index and Alphabetical Table, stereotyped by E. White and published and sold by Daniel D. Smith of New York City. Nicely illustrated with full page engravings, it contains four pages of hand penned birth, marriage, and death records from the family of farmer Isaac Rindge (1789-1857) and his wife Phebe Richardson (1789- ) of Wilbraham, Templeton, and Greenwich, Mass., and their children Catharine (1818-1847), Phebe Mary Ann (1816-1888), Isaac Jr. (1815- ), and William (1819-1887). It also gives the names of West, Alden, Tate, and Harris spouses, and some marriage dates and place names. Son Isaac Jr. with family was found in the 1850 Census in Springfield, Mass. as a merchant tailor, and in the 1860 Census in Richmond, Indiana as a well to do Bridge Builder by trade. The Bible shows its age with wear to the covers, a loose lead page, scattered age color and flaws, and a good sound spine. A good early Bible with the penned records of the early New England family of Isaac and Phebe Rindge. J288.
